Meghan A. Litecky Joins Dysart Taylor

Dysart Taylor Cotter McMonigle & Montemore, P.C., is pleased to announce that Meghan A. Litecky joined the firm in December 2015.

Meghan’s practice focuses on litigation, bankruptcy, and appellate work. She served the citizens of Jackson County as a prosecutor for 20 trials as lead counsel and 17 as co-counsel. She was recognized by the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office as its Neighborhood Prosecutor of the Year as well as its Rookie of the Year. She also has experience filing legal briefs, Writs of Mandamus, Suggestions in Opposition and supporting documents with the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District. 

Meghan recently began teaching statutory criminal law to officer candidates at the Regional Police Academy. She previously served as co-intern coordinator of the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office Intern program where she managed, trained, and disciplined up to 25 law students at one time. She taught at the KCPD Citizen’s Police Academy to educate citizens of Kansas City about the criminal justice system, and she was also an instructor at the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorney’s Annual Trial School.

Previously, she was a law clerk and associate with a bankruptcy law firm. Her responsibilities included meeting with clients and discussing their options under consumer bankruptcy laws and filing cases in Federal Bankruptcy Court. She also attended confirmation hearings for Chapter 13 and 7 proceedings in United States Bankruptcy Court.

Meghan graduated with a B.A. in political science and a B.S. in journalism from the University of Missouri, and a J.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. She was president of the Student Bar Association and received the Tiera Farrow Student of the Year Award and the UMKC Law Alumni Association Harry S. Truman Leadership Award. She’s also a graduate of the Building Trial Skills School through the National Institute of Trial Attorneys.
